Unani system of Medicine

UNANI –The system with deep root with a 5000 year old history. An ancient system of medicine which originated in Greece. The fundamentals of Unani system is based on the Humoural Theory propagated by the great Physician Hippocrates, its founder. The Hellenistic origin of Unani medicine is still visible in its being based on the classical four humors: Phlegm (Balgham), Blood (Dam), Yellow bile(Ṣafrā') and Black bile (Saudā'), but it has also been influenced by Indian and Chinese traditional systems.

The system is not only limited to the treatment of some symptoms of diseases but has a comprehensive approach for curing the diseases and preservation of health too. Unani’ - the name is derived from the word 'Ionian' which originated in Greece. ‘Tibb’ means the knowledge of the states of the human body in health and decline.

Ayurveda system of medicine

Ayurveda is the traditional healing modality of the Verdict culture from India. It is said to be 2000 to 5000 years old, meaning it has stood the test of time. Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word that literally translates as "the wisdom of life" or "the knowledge of longevity". In accordance with this definition, Ayurvedic medicine views health as much more than the absence of disease. The wise seers and sages of the time, intuitively understanding the physiology and workings of the mind-body-spirit long before the advents of modern medicine, explained the basic principles of Ayurveda.Ayurvedic system of medicine has its historical roots in the Indian subcontinent.

From its ancient origins in India, Ayurveda has now spread all over the world. Its teaching uses a blend of herbal medicine, massage, nutrition, spiritual insight, practical experience, scientific analysis, and artistic creativity to guide us to a balanced fulfilled life style. A fundamental Ayurvedic philosophy is that "food is medicine and medicine is food". An Ayurvedic proverb is “When diet is wrong, medicine is of no use; when diet is correct, medicine is of no need. Basically in Ayurveda there are three essential humors.

Vayu, Pitta and Kapha.Blood is added as fourth humor

Vayu- It controls the creation, growth, and disintegration of all living organisms.

Pitta- It is responsible for the creation of heat and all forms of radiant energy in the body. It is also responsible for the pumping action of heart, the skin's temperature, and the vitality of blood.

Kapha- Kapha supplies the placid and cooling principles to the body . Which cause disease if they become imbalanced.
